Raipur, March 1

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will present the last full budget of the Congress government in Chhattisgarh on March 6.

The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha started on Wednesday with the Governor’s address. This was the first speech Biswa Bhusan Harichandan to the House after taking over as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on February 23.

The Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly later met to finalise the business for the session. Sources said the state government would present the Economic Survey 2023 on March 3.

After two days holiday, the House would assembly on March 6. Sources said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel would present the annual budget for the financial year 2023-24 on Monday.

All eyes are set on the last full budget as the Congress government could make some important announcements. The state would be going to the polls in November this year.

Earlier, Governor in his maiden speech hailed the state government’s initiatives for socioeconomic empowerment in remote areas and said Bastar which was once known as ‘Naxalgarh’ (den of Naxalites) is getting a new identity as ‘Vikasgarh’ (hub of development).

The statement added significance as the BJP is making the Naxal issue a poll plank and has been claiming that violence escalated during the regime of Congress government in Chhattisgarh.
