A joint team of the police and the district administration raided more than half a dozen illegal houses and establishments of scrap dealer Kuldeep Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational double murder case that took place in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh on October 13.

In the incident that rocked Chhattisgarh, Sahu brutally murdered Mehnaz Sheikh, wife of head constable Talib Sheikh and their 11-year-old daughter Alia Sheikh at their house. The accused committed the heinous crime after a ruffle with the head constable over a petty issue.

After the incident, Sahu was on a run even as police launched a massive manhunt to nab the accused. He was finally nabbed while traveling by bus in Balrampur with the help of the cyber team of Balrampur police.

Sahu is the district secretary of Congress’ student wing NSUI and is habitually criminal. His father Ashok Kumar Sahu is a resident of Bazarpara Surajpur and a crime has been registered against him under various sections.

On Monday morning, the authorities initiated the bulldozer action on the illegal properties owned by the accused and his family members. A notice in this regard was previously issued to the persons concerned by the Nagar Panchayat. On the instructions of the government, the preparations for the action were kept top secret.

Before dawn, the team under heavy security escort reached the premises of the accused at Surajpur Bazarpara and razed the illegal properties.
