Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be awarded ‘Mahatma Phule Samta Puraskar’ in Pune on Sunday on the occasion of Samta Diwas, the 131st death anniversary of Mahatma Phule.
In a function to be organized by All India Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad at Mahatma Phule Memorial ‘Samta Bhoomi’ in Pune, National President of the council, Chhagan Bhujbal will felicitate the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh by presenting him Phule turban, honorary shawl and memento.
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of Samta Diwas, All India Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad gives away ‘Mahatma Phule Samta Puraskar’ to the personalities who have made a remarkable contribution in various fields such as social, political, literature, journalism. Baghel has been selected for this year’s award for his exceptionally important works for providing justice to the underprivileged sections of the society during his tenure.
Under the leadership of Baghel, Chhattisgarh Government has launched Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to provide fair price of crops to the farmers in Chhattisgarh, Godhan Nyay Yojana to benefit the livestock farmers and landless labourers with income and employment and Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhoomiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana to provide Rs 6,000 annually to the landless agricultural laborers.
Besides, many schemes have been commenced for the welfare of tribals, forest dwellers and weaker section of the society. These schemes have evidently improved their standard of living. Under Suraji Gaon Yojana, a large number of rural women have been associated with the income-oriented activities in Gauthans built in the villages.
