Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the Government Factory located at Itpal in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh that was once infamous for Maoists violence.

The plant also houses the garment factory, set up with an investment of over Rs 6.90 crore. The Chief Minister also inspected the factory and interacted with the women.

The main source of livelihood of the villagers living in Bijapur district is agriculture and forest based. In view of the migration of rural people to other states for employment due to lack of industry in the district, the Bijapur district administration established a garment factory as a business model for stable livelihood and women empowerment.

Counseling of 800 women to work in the garment factory was started and training was given to 200 beneficiaries. In June 2023, the management signed a 5-year contract with Dixcy Company and started vest production in the District Project Livelihood College with 70 women.

The Chief Minister also flagged off the first batch of products ready for the market from the factory. The authorities were in parleys with the country’s big garment brands like Myntra, Max, Dixcy etc to provide a marketing platform for the products manufactured in the outlet.
