Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today visited the residence of senior litterateur Vinod Kumar Shukla in Raipur and felicitated him on receiving this year’s prestigious Jnanpith Award.

The Chief Minister honored Shukla on behalf of all the people of the state and presented him a shawl-shriphal and Nandi, the symbol of Bastar Art.

Sai told Vinod Kumar Shukla that the entire state was feeling proud with the announcement of giving him the country’s most prestigious Jnanpith Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of literature. “It is my good fortune that I am getting the opportunity to meet you today in this moment of happiness,” Sai said.

The Chief Minister enquired about the well-being of Vinod Kumar Shukla and asked about his health. He said that Shukla is a resident of Rajnandgaon, which is the cultural capital of Chhattisgarh. Writers like Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh, Dr Padumlal Punnalal Bakshi and Baldev Prasad Mishra have done their literary work there.

When the Chief Minister mentioned Rajnandgaon, Shukla shared the memories of his childhood days of Nandgaon with him. Shukla said that he was born in Rajnandgaon. “That Nandgaon of my childhood is still in my mind. Even today, when I go there, I try to find that same Nandgaon. But now a lot has changed with time,” he added.

The Chief Minister also met the family members of Vinod Kumar Shukla and enquired about their well-being. On the occasion, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Pankaj Jha, Press Officer to the Chief Minister Alok Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister P Dayanand, Public Relations Commissioner Ravi Mittal, President of Raipur Press Club Prafull Thakur and family members of Vinod Kumar Shukla along with other dignitaries were present.
