On the occasion of World Environment Day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today planted an almond sapling under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at the High School ground campus in Sambalpur, Kanker district.

The program is a strong initiative towards making environmental protection a mass movement in the state. On this occasion, along with the Chief Minister, Kanker MP Bhojraj Nag, Antagarh MLA Vikram Deo Usendi, MLA Asharam Netam, many public representatives and common citizens also planted trees enthusiastically.

The Chief Minister said that Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign was not limited to tree plantation only, it is a concept of reverence towards mother, gratitude towards nature and secure future for future generations. “When we plant a tree in the name of our mother, it brings an emotional attachment and we also take care of it with all our heart,” Sai said.

He appealed to the common citizens to participate in the campaign and plant at least one tree in the name of their mother or beloved deity. The Chief Minister said that the initiative would prove to be a milestone in making Chhattisgarh a green state. Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan is an innovative initiative, which aims to combine social and emotional concerns with environmental awareness.
