Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took a serious note on the escalating Maoist violence in the state and summoned the top officials for a high-level meeting to review the situation.
The Chief Secretary, Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja and top officials of the civil and police administration attended the meeting. Sai took stock of the situation and reviewed the operations going on against the Maoists.
The meeting took place in the backdrop of Maoists’ attack on the camp of CRPF in Bedre camp in Sukma district today morning. An Assistant Sub Inspector of Police, Sudhakar Reddy was martyred in the attack while another jawan sustained injuries.
The incident was the second major attack in the last five days. Hours before Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai took oath on Wednesday, rebels ambushed a party of security personnel in Chota Dongar in Narayanpur district. A jawan died in line of duty while another was injured.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to intensify the operations against the Maoists as they were acting in desperation. He said with the development works, the government would win the confidence of people and eliminate the Maoist problem with the assistance from the Central government.
Sai directed the officials to ensure all required assistance and help to the family members of the martyrs.
