Chhattisgarh government will be providing compensation to the family members of the victim of Bemetara communal clash.
Bhuneswar Sahu, a 22-year-old boy, was brutally killed in Biranpur village of Bemetara district on Saturday after communal violence broke out. Though the district administration has promulgated prohibitory order of section 144 CrPC, 1973 to maintain law and order, violence continued till Monday evening. A heavy police deployment had also been made in and around the village.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday announced to give a government job to the family member of the deceased besides a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh. The decision was taken after a meeting as the office bearers of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Sahu Sangh led by Tehal Sahu called on the Chief Minister today morning to discuss the issue. The victim belonged to the Sahu community.
State’s Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and Agriculture Minister, and local MLA Ravindra Choubey were also present in the meeting.
The Chief Minister has also ordered a high-level administrative inquiry to be conducted by the divisional commissioner of Durg. The committee would submit the report in a week. Baghel appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace and harmony.
