Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday led the state to pay homage to the 10 jawans and a driver killed in a Maoist attack in Dantewada district on Wednesday.

The rebels blew up the vehicle carrying District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans by detonating a powerful landmine near Aranpur in Dantewada district on Wednesday afternoon. In the incident, 10 jawans and the driver of the vehicle were martyred.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday reached Jagdalpur on Thursday and paid rich tributes to the slain jawans. Chhattisgarh Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, public representatives and senior police officials were present on the occasion.

Baghel himself carried the mortal remains of a jawan on his shoulder and placed the coffin in the vehicle. After paying the last respect, the bodies were sent to the respective places of the jawans.
