The Hirri Dolomite Mines of Bhilai Steel Plant has been conferred with the prestigious Five-Star Rating Award under the Star Rating Scheme introduced as part of the Minor Mineral Rules, 2015 for excellence in mining operations, environmental management, safety practices, and sustainable development standards.
The award was presented by Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, during an Award Ceremony held on October 5, 2025, at the Chhattisgarh Mining Conclave 2025 organised by the Directorate of Geology and Mining (Mineral Resources Department), Government of Chhattisgarh, at Nava Raipur. On behalf of Bhilai Steel Plant, Shri Bipin Kumar Giri, ED (Mines), received the Five-Star Rating Award and Certificate of Appreciation from the Chief Minister.
Also present on the occasion were R.B. Geharwar, CGM (Mines), IOC Rajhara Mine; Chintala Srikant, CGM (Flux); Jayaprakash, GM, Rajhara Mines; Somnath Kumar Singh, DGM & Mine Manager (Hirri Mines); and P.P.S. Sehgal, Master OCT, Hirri Mines.
The Five-Star Rating recognises BSP’s responsible mining, eco-friendly practices, and adherence to the highest standards of operational excellence and sustainability.
