Raipur, October 8
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai shared a humanitarian experience during his term as Member of Parliament (MP) while staying in New Delhi.
The official residence of Sai used to house patients coming to Delhi for medical care. It was indeed a great relief to get a roof in the national capital when the person is already battling with a lot of problems.
“During my tenure as an MP, my residence at North Avenue in Delhi was the second home for the patients and relatives of Chhattisgarh and the region,” Sai recalled at a function organised to inaugurate the new building of Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center. Patients going to Delhi for treatment used to stay there and get their treatment done, he added.
Sai said: “People used to tell me that your house is a mini AIIMS. Serving patients was the work of most interest to me and this work gave me the most satisfaction.” He added that just as his residence in Delhi was always open for patients and their families when he was an MP, similarly, today as the head of the state, this work of service is continuing through Kunkuri Sadan.
The Chief Minister said that medical science, apart from being a good career for the youth, also provides an opportunity to serve the people. “Life is the most precious treasure and you people provide Sanjeevani to the people with good treatment, that is why people consider doctors like God,” Sai said, adding that they should do the work with full service, the blessings they will get from this will bring more happiness and prosperity in their life.
Sai informed about the release of Rs 231 crore for the expansion of Ambedkar Hospital and construction of a 700-bed hospital. He said that after the completion of the hospital building, the capacity of Ambedkar Hospital will be 2000 patients. He told that work is being done to increase the seats of MBBS as well as PG in the state. The Chief Minister also informed about the decision to start PG seats of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Dermatology in Raigarh Medical College.
The Chief Minister said that along with 10 government medical colleges, private sector medical colleges are also playing a strong role in strengthening medical education in the state and preparing a new generation of promising doctors.
Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shyambihari Jaiswal service is primary in the health profession, employment comes later. “If all of you join this profession considering it as service, then the state will always benefit from it,” he added.
Finance Minister O P Choudhary said that all the students entering medical education today would bring glory to the state along with their parents. “You will contribute in making India a developed nation. Our youth are making their mark at the national and international level,” he added. The Finance Minister said that they would establish Nava Raipur as a growth hub of the service sector. The government is trying to establish Raipur as a health care destination, so that the people of the state can get high level health services.
Later, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated the boys and girls hostel building of the centre. It is worth noting that a new hostel building has been constructed for the students of Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences, in which 120 seats have been made for girls and 100 seats for boys.
