Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has taken a strong note on the incident related to the three girls from Narayanpur being taken to Agra in the pretext of job.
The Chhattisgarh police have lodged an offence and arrested two nuns involved in the incident. They were arrested from Durg railway station with the three girls and a man while they were attempting to board a train for Agra.
The arrest of nuns associated with the missionaries had created a political furore as Kerala’s ruling Communist Party and opposition Congress raised the issue claiming that nuns were native to their state. The Kerala Chief Minister even wrote a letter to the Prime Minister.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday hit back and took a strong exception on allegedly alluring the poor tribal girls. “Three daughters of Narayanpur were promised nursing training and jobs after that. A person from Narayanpur handed them over to two nuns at Durg station, who were taking them to Agra,” Sai posted on the social media platform.
It is a case of human trafficking and attempts have been made to convert them by alluring in the pretext of job and training, Sai said, adding that this is a serious matter related to the safety of women.
Investigation is still going on in this matter. The case is sub judice and the law will take its own course, the Chief Minister said.
Sai said Chhattisgarh is a peace-loving state where people of all religions and communities live in harmony. “It is very unfortunate to politicize the issue related to the safety of our daughters of Bastar,” the Chief Minister added.
