Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the state-level ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight in a program organized at Telibandha pond premises in Raipur on Tuesday morning.

He administered the oath of cleanliness to the citizens in the program and cleaned the Telibandha pond premises by sweeping. He honored the Swachhata sisters and social organizations Green Army, Bunch of Fools, Kuch Farz Hamara Bhi and Avengers Group as well as social worker Mrs. Shubhangi Apte who participated in making the city clean.

The Chief Minister flagged off the Swachhata Marathon organized on the inauguration of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight. He also flagged off new Swachhata vehicles. MLAs Motilal Sahu, Purandar Mishra and Anuj Sharma and Mayor Ejaz Dhebar also attended the program.

While inaugurating the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight in Chhattisgarh, Sai said that every person should adopt cleanliness in his daily life. There is a need to make cleanliness a social movement to make cities, villages and the state clean and beautiful. The state will become clean and beautiful only through public awareness.

The Chief Minister congratulated and wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday today in the program. He also congratulated the people on Vishwakarma Jayanti.

Sai said in his address in the program that in the year 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Swachh Bharat Mission in the country. Since then, assistance was given to build toilets in every house. He said that the Prime Minister had been continuously working for the poor and the deprived. Under the Jan Dhan Yojana, bank accounts of people were opened across the country. In these accounts, the amount of various schemes of the government is reaching the beneficiaries without any leakage. These amounts are also being utilized very well.

“I salute the Swachhata Didis. They are collecting garbage from door to door and playing an important role in cleanliness. They are separating dry and wet garbage and sending it for recycling and making compost,” Sai said. The Chief Minister said he had the opportunity to attend the Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo in Gujarat yesterday, in which important work is being done towards making the atmosphere clean.

Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Dr. Basavaraju S., while giving information about the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight, said that a special campaign is being started in all 184 urban bodies of the state from today on the theme of ‘Swabhaav Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata’. During this, people will be made aware of cleanliness through various activities. Along with providing the benefits of government schemes to Swachhata Didi, various activities like marathon, cyclothon, Shramdaan will be conducted.

On the occasion of the launch of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight, Raipur Division Commissioner Mahadev Kavre, Urban Administration and Development Department Director Kundan Kumar, Collector Dr. Gaurav Singh, SSP Santosh Singh and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra were also present.
