Historical tradition of Kawad Yatra

Baba Bhoramdev Temple is an ancient, historical and archaeological site of 11th century importance, where every year a walking tour of Kawadis is organized in the month of Sawan. In this Kavad Yatra, devotees take the holy water of Maa Narmada from Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh and pass through difficult routes to perform Jalabhishek at Baba Bhoramdev, Jaleshwar Mahadev and Panchmukhi Budha Mahadev. During this, they sing praises of Lord Shiva with the slogan of “Bol Bam”.
This year’s Kavad Yatra was especially memorable under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Sai, in which unprecedented arrangements were made by the government for welcoming and serving the Kavadis.
