Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited the stalls of various departments set up in the district office premises during his recent Korba visit.
On the occasion, he appreciated the community development stall set up by Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO). The company’s community development stall attracted visitors’ attention. The stall showcased the company’s social initiatives and their positive impacts.
BALCO’s major community development projects were staged in the stall. It included the ‘Unnati’ initiative, through which more than 5,800 women have been linked to self-help groups and traditional handicrafts. Under the ‘Arogya’ initiative, during the Nutrition Month, a nutrition cycle was demonstrated for balanced diet and anemia prevention.
So far, more than 14,000 rural and tribal youth across the country have been trained and provided employment through ‘Vedanta Skill School’. At the same time, more than 8,000 farmers are getting the benefit of sustainable agriculture, water management, livestock promotion and natural farming through the ‘More Water More Soil’ initiative.
The local paddy and coarse grain varieties were also displayed by BALCO supported Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO). These projects have brought about a significant change in the lives of the community in the field of education, health, livelihood and environment.
The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, cabinet ministers and other dignitaries visited the stall and said that BALCO’s community development projects are making a significant contribution towards sustainable development by bringing real change in the lives of the common people.
