Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reached the residence of martyr Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje in the capital Raipur and paid a rich tribute.

The officer laid down his life while combating the Left-Wing Extremists (LWEs) in Konta region of Sukma district on Monday morning. Sai offered a wreath on his mortal remains that reached his Kushalpur residence in Raipur today evening.

The Chief Minister met the bereaved family members of martyr police officer and expressed condolences. Consoling the family members, he said martyr ASP Akash Rao Giripunje has made the supreme sacrifice by showing indomitable courage, loyalty and dedication towards his duty. “We are proud of him. The government stands with his family in this hour of grief,” Sai said.

Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Pingua, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police (anti-Naxal Operation) Vivekanand Sinha accompanied the Chief Minister and paid tribute to the martyr.

The Chief Minister today postponed his scheduled visit to Rajnandgaon in view of the Maoist incident in Sukma and discussed the incident in a high-level meeting of senior officials of the Home Department in his office room in Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan. He inquired from the officials about the IED blast carried out by Maoist in Konta of Sukma district and reviewed the on-going operations against the rebels. He directed to ensure all necessary arrangements to provide proper treatment to the injured soldiers immediately.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Pingua, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Additional Director General of Police (anti-Naxal Operation) Vivekanand Sinha, Secretary to Chief Minister Rahul Bhagat were present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister also visited the private hospital and met the policemen injured in the IED blast. Sai enquired about the well-being of the injured security personnel and wished for their speedy recovery. He directed the doctors to provide better treatment to the injured.
