Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had a night stay in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp located in the insurgency-hit Bastar region on Monday.

Sai would be the first Chief Minister to have spent a night in the camp of security forces deployed to combat the Left Wing Extremists. The Chief Minister was on Bastar visit on Monday. After meetings, he decided to visit the Sedwa camp of the CRPF in Bastar region.

The soldiers were elated to see an unexpected visitor. They gave the Chief Minister a warm reception and urged to spent a night in the camp that Sai readily accepted.

The Chief Minister had a friendly discussion with the jawans. “When I came to Chitrakote for the meeting of Bastar Area Tribal Development Authority, it was my great desire to meet all of you soldiers. All of you have contributed a lot to the success that has been achieved on the Naxal front in Chhattisgarh in the last 11 months. I salute the courage of all of you. The success that all of you are getting in the Naxal operation is being praised all over the country. Whenever I meet Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he definitely mentions the success that Chhattisgarh is getting in the Naxal operation. Home Minister Shri Amit Shah has been providing continuous guidance and support in the Naxal operation,” Sai said.

The Chief Minister told the CRPF jawans that the way they had achieved historic successes in the direction of ending Maoists terror during the last 11 months was being praised all over the country. With the contribution, they are opening a new chapter of development in Bastar by staying away from their family and sacrificing comforts, Sai said.

“You have made a place for yourself forever in the hearts of the tribal communities here,” Sai said, adding that they had resolved to completely eradicate Naxalism by the year 2026. This is also the message of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he added.

In Bastar, police and security forces have killed more than 200 Naxalites in a short period of time. More than 740 Maoist cadres have surrendered. They have abandoned violence and joined the mainstream of democracy. The government has made such a policy for the rehabilitation of Naxalites who have abandoned violence that in the coming days, even more Naxalites will surrender in large numbers.
