Former Union Minister and newly appointed in-charge of Congress party affairs in Chhattisgarh Kumari Selja was accorded a rousing welcome on her arrival in the state capital Sunday evening.
This was the maiden visit of Kumari Selja after getting the new responsibility in the party organisation. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Mohan Markam, Chhattisgarh ministers, senior party leaders and a large number of workers reached the airport to receive Selja.
At many places from the airport to the city, Congress workers had set up platforms and welcomed the new party in-charge.
Selja will attend the meeting of the State Congress Committee on Monday. Besides the state executive members, district and city Congress presidents and state presidents of fronts, organizations, cells and departments will participate in the meeting to be held at state party headquarters Rajiv Bhavan on December 26.
The leaders have been asked to bring the report card of their performance and implementation of the organizational programmes including Bharat Jodo Yatra, preparation for Hath se Hath Jodo Yatra, booth reorganization.
Selja is scheduled to leave for Delhi on Tuesday.
Interacting with the media persons, she said the welfare works done by the Congress government in the last four years had never taken place across the country in the past. The Congress government also exposed the corruption of the previous BJP government.
The message delivered by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is reaching every corner of the country, generating new energy and enthusiasm among the cadre, she said. Referring to Chhattisgarh affairs, Selja said the state would go to the polls in one year and the party would work on the ground to communicate the programmes and projects successfully launched by the Bhupesh Baghel government in the state.
