Chhattisgarh cops bring laurels to state at national police sports meet

Chhattisgarh cops earned accolades to the state by bagging 11 medals including gold at the All India Police Badminton and Table Tennis Tournament held in Kerala.

The event was held from April 11 to 15 at the Regional Sports Center, Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium Kadavanthra at Ernakulam in Kerala. Chhattisgarh secured third place in the medal tally among 43 teams.

The state won a total of 11 medals in badminton and table tennis. Earlier, Chhattisgarh had won 5 medals in the tournament held in Chandigarh.

The pair of Suraj Singh Parihar (IPS) and Aakarshi Kashyap (DSP) won the gold medal while the silver medal of the competition also went to Chhattisgarh. In mixed doubles, the pair of Bhavna Gupta (IPS) and Mormuta of Mizoram bagged the silver medal.

Chhattisgarh has won the gold medal for the first time in this competition. The silver medal of the competition also went to Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated and wished Chhattisgarh Police and the medal winners for the great achievement in the All India Police Badminton and Table Tennis Tournament. The achievement of Chhattisgarh Police officers is inspirational for other players, Sai said.
