The Chhattisgarh government Friday initiated stringent action against the callers who obstructed the GST officials to discharge their duties and threatened with dire consequences.

The action came following the directives of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who took a serious note to the incident of businessmen threatening state tax inspectors during government work.

It is noteworthy that the State Tax GST Department is identifying bogus firms, suspicious firms on the basis of risk parameters and taking action for physical verification of such firms. On the instructions of the department, State Tax Inspectors Mrs. Ritu Sonkar and Homesh Verma were directed to physically verify the business after receiving a complaint of irregularity against M/s Yogesh Commercial, Mahesh Colony, Gudhiyari, Raipur and Rahul Sharma of M/s Shri Jagannath Construction, Daldal Seoni.

In compliance with the order, the tax inspectors went for physical verification, but the two businessmen misbehaved with the inspectors and threatened them, which caused hindrance in the government work of physical verification of the business.

The GST department on Friday raided the establishments of both the businessmen and scanned the documents. “Today, the department conducted investigation and seizure proceedings at the establishments of both the firms for tax evasion and non-compliance of the provisions of the GST Act,” a statement issued by the government said.

The department has also lodged an FIR in the police station against both the businessmen for obstructing government work and threatening the officers.
