Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took another big leap forward and announced to pay more than what the BJP declared for women as financial assistance.
The BJP in its election manifesto for the Chhattisgarh assembly polls announced the launch of Chhattisgarh Mahatari Vandan yojana. Under the scheme, the women in the state were entitled to get financial assistance of Rs 12,000 per annum.
The Congress party moved a step ahead and announced that it would pay more. On the occasion of Diwali, Baghel said if Congress government was formed in Chhattisgarh, the government would give Rs 15,000 annually to every woman under the Graha Lakshmi scheme. Baghel tweeted and said, “Today on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, with the grace of Mother Lakshmi ji and blessings of Chhattisgarh Mahtari, an important decision has been taken for the women power of the state. If a Congress government is formed, both married and unmarried women will get the amount.”
The Chief Minister said unlike the BJP, the Congress party was not filling any form from the eligible women for the scheme. “When our government is formed, we will conduct door-to-door surveys. Online form will be filled,” Baghel said. He took a dig at BJP’s haste to fill the form for the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Baghel said BJP people were very fond of making queues, hence they were making queues for the scheme also. “During our tenure, everything has become online and our plan is for everyone,” the Chief Minister added.
Earlier in the manifesto, Congress had announced to purchase paddy at Rs 3200 per quintal besides writing off farm loans, and free education from KG to PG. Apart from this, Congress has also made a big announcement of providing houses to 17.5 lakh poor families.
