Chhattisgarh has registered a remarkable achievement in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in April 2025.
The state has made its place in the list of top 15 states of the country by collecting GST of Rs 4,135 crore. In terms of GST collection, Chhattisgarh has also left behind states like Kerala, Punjab, Bihar and Jharkhand, rich in mineral resources.
Regarding the economic progress in the state, experts believe that the achievement is the result of strong reforms done by the Chhattisgarh government in the trade and industry sector. In the last 15 months, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government has taken many such decisions that have promoted investment and trade.
The major reforms undertaken by the government include simplification of industry and business rules, removal of non-essential and obstructive laws, online availability of all essential services, removal of license requirement for opening petrol pumps and simplification of process for setting up industries.
All these initiatives have encouraged industry and business activities in the state, thereby strengthening the state’s economy and increasing revenue collection continuously.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that their aim had been to make Chhattisgarh a self-reliant and prosperous state. “The growth in the economic condition of the state has been possible with the cooperation of the public and the industry,” Sai said.
The performance is a positive sign for the economy of Chhattisgarh and shows that the state is moving beyond resource-based economy and is now emerging as a strong industrial hub.
