The Government of India had supplied 230 ventilators to Chhattisgarh for the management and containment of pandemic induced by COVID-19.
Besides ventilators, the Centre had also provided 5.72 lakh N95 masks and 2.32 lakh Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to the state, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey informed in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Andhra Pradesh topped the list of getting the highest number of ventilators followed by Maharashtra. Both the states supplied 4960 and 4434 ventilators respectively to combat COVID-19. The Government of India had supplied 38867 ventilators worth Rs 1850.76 crore to the states, union territories and central institutions.
Centre supplied the highest 32.01 lakh N95 masks to Maharashtra followed by Delhi where 20.42 lakh masks were provided as part of medical equipment aid to the states. In all, 408.49 lakh masks were distributed across the country. It cost Rs 339.47 crore.
During the Financial Year 2020-21, Rs 6309.90 crore was released to the States/UTs under the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Package, a Central Sector Scheme while during the Financial Year 2019-20, Rs1113.21 crore was released to the State/Union Territory Administration under National Health Mission towards management and containment of COVID-19 pandemic.
