Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee on his punya tithi.

At a function held in Raj Bhavan, the Governor paid floral tributes and said Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a great personality, great speaker, a mass leader and also a man without enemies whom people of all parties respected equally.

He shared memories related to Shri Vajpayee and said that he used to take care of and respect all the workers, big or small. Deka shared memories related to his visit to Assam in 1978-79.

The Governor recalled the contribution of Shri Vajpayee in establishing India on the world stage and said that he increased the prestige of the country by strongly putting India’s side on foreign and international forums. When India was considered a weak country, he declared India a nuclear power by conducting nuclear tests in Pokhran. With this step, he established India as a strong global power in the world. The Governor described Shri Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister as unprecedented.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai paid homage to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee by garlanding his photograph on the occasion of his death anniversary at his residence.

Sai said Late Shri Atal Ji had been the architect of Chhattisgarh. The people of Chhattisgarh have a special affection towards him. He respected the sentiments of the people of the state by giving this geographical area in the form of a new state. He was a man of many talents. He had created his own identity as a journalist, poet and politician.

Be it as the Prime Minister of India or as the Foreign Minister, he has left an indelible mark while representing India at the global level. During his tenure as Prime Minister, many such schemes were implemented in the country, which changed the picture of rural India. Late Shri Atal Ji is in the memories of every citizen of India.

The Chief Minister said that he was such a politician who rose above party politics and got the love of everyone. Atal Ji remained dedicated throughout his life for the glory and prestige of Bharat Mata. “I have many memories with the late Atal Ji, which always inspire me,” he said, adding that Atal Ji was a man of the era, he gave the mantra of good governance and today they are moving forward on the same path and ensuring the development of Chhattisgarh.
