‘Indian civilization has given the essence of life to the globe and contributed to the innovation is remarkable’ said, Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan at the 2nd convocation ceremony of Amity University Chhattisgarh at Pt. DDU Auditorium here on Friday.
He also said that the university should focus on research and innovation for the problems on poverty, hunger, environment, and unemployment. The Governor underlined on dynamic academic curriculum to boost entrepreneurship and stated that ‘India needs job creators not job seekers and called upon the students to contribute for Viksit Bharat.’ He also advised to the students to think about the nation, society and people as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised India is to be the 3rd largest economy in the globe.
Don’t fix a target, keep the mind open like the sky, said Arun Sao Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in his address. He also motivated the students and stated that ‘your new life is going to begin from today, you have a great responsibility to the society and nation.’ Prof (Dr) Colonel Umesh Kumar Mishra, Chairman CGPURC, motivated the students and said, ‘all powers are within you, make your parents, teachers, and nation proud.’
A total of 681 students were conferred degrees at the 2nd convocation ceremony of Amity University Chhattisgarh at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Auditorium on March 15 (Friday). Among the 681 students, a whopping 357 candidates (52.42 percent) are girls while 324 students (47.57 percent) are boys. As many as 575 students were conferred undergraduate degrees (UG) and 106 students were conferred postgraduate degrees (PG) at the convocation.
In total, 22 golds medals, 16 silver medals and 05 bronze medals were awarded to meritorious students, according to the university officials. Yash Gandhi received Shri Baljit Shastri Award for Best in Human and Traditional Values such as honesty, integrity, respect for others, caring attitude and respect for heritage and culture. Shrinkhala S. Chand received Best All-Round Student Trophy for best performance in academics, sports, and social service. Fifteen students were awarded the Dr Ashok K Chouhan award for completing their degrees with 100 per cent scholarship. Dr Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), was awarded an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Science) – Honoris causa at the convocation for his outstanding contribution in the field of agriculture, research, and innovation.
Dr Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity University in his virtual address to the graduands, said that ‘the values and ‘sanskar’ given to you during the entire programme at the university would be helpful to make Bharat as a superpower.’ He also said Chhattisgarh is one of the resourceful state and it has the potential to be a top state in all sectors.
Dr W Selvamurthy, Chancellor, Amity University Chhattisgarh, said that ‘you all are entering with a new responsibility and be conscious for future generation.’ ‘The deputy Chief minister has given four responsibilities to Amity University Chhattisgarh i.e. rural development, tribal development, education, and skill development.,’ Dr. Selvamurthy added.
Dr Aseem K Chauhan, President, Ritnand Balved International Education Foundation thanked the Governor for his gracious presence and blessing the students. Prof (Dr) Piyush Kant Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, presented the convocation report with welcome address. Dr Suresh Dhyani, Registrar, administer oath to the graduands and proposed the vote of thanks.
