Governor of Chhattisgarh Ramen Deka on Wednesday visited Bhilai Steel Plant, an entity of state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), in Durg district.

Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (SAIL-BSP), and Senior Officers of the Plant welcomed Governor Ramen Deka upon his arrival at SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant. It is worth mentioning that this was his maiden visit to Bhilai Steel Plant.

Governor was accorded Guard of Honour by CISF Jawans at the Safety Excellence Centre, following which he was briefed about necessary safety instructions for visiting Plant. During his Plant visit, the Governor took keen interest in operations at Modex Units, including Blast Furnace 8, Steel Melting Shop-3, and Universal Rail Mill.

Governor witnessed the production of hot metal at BF-8, production of crude steel at SMS-3, rolling of the world’s longest 130-metre rail at URM. Hon’ble Governor Shri Ramen Deka left for Raipur from Bhilai Niwas.

Vijay Baghel, Member of Parliament (Durg) accompanied the Governor during his visit to SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant. During his Plant visit, Governor Ramen Deka was accompanied by Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (SAIL-BSP), Anjani Kumar, ED (Works), Pawan Kumar, ED (HR), and other senior officials of the Plant.

It is noteworthy that Shri Ramen Deka, who hails from Assam, assumed office as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on 31st July 2024.
