In a major decision, the Chhattisgarh cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod to pay the input subsidy to the farmers who sold paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) in a single instalment before the festival of Holi.

During the Kharif Marketing Year 2025–26, a total of 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured from 25 lakh 24 thousand 339 farmers at MSP. The BJP government led by Vishnu Deo Sai is providing Rs 3100 for a quintal of paddy purchased from the farmers under the Krishak Unnati Yojana. The MSP is paid to the farmers and the difference amount to enable them to get Rs 3100 is being paid as input subsidy under the scheme.

Under Krishak Unnati Yojana, Chhattisgarh Government will disburse approximately Rs 10,000 crore towards the differential price of paddy to farmers, in a single instalment, prior to the Holi festival, a state government spokesperson said after the meeting that was chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

It is noteworthy that under Krishak Unnati Yojana, the State Government is procuring up to 21 quintals of paddy per acre from farmers at the rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal, which is the highest in the country. Over the past two years, more than Rs 25,000 crore has already been disbursed to farmers towards the differential price of paddy under the scheme. This year, with the payment of Rs 10,000 crore to farmers, the total amount disbursed will amount to Rs 35,000 crore.

The Cabinet also approved the address to be delivered by the Governor for the Eighth Session of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh, scheduled for February–March 2026. It also approved the draft of ‘Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill, 2026’, to be presented in the Legislative Assembly in connection with the Budget Estimates for the year 2026–27.
