The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday released the 15th instalment of the state’s flagship Mahtari Vandan Yojana.

A state government spokesperson said a total assistance amount of Rs 648.38 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of more than 69.32 lakh women of the state by the Women and Child Development Department.

It is worth noting that the scheme was started by the Chhattisgarh government in March 2024 to strengthen women financially. So far, Rs 9788.78 crore has been disbursed to the women of the state in the 15 consecutive months. Under the scheme, assistance amount of Rs 1000 per month is provided to married, widowed, divorced and abandoned women in the age group of 21 to 60 years.

The Women and Child Development Department has appealed to the beneficiary women to update their Aadhaar card so as to facilitate smooth transfer of the amount. It is mandatory to update the Aadhaar card every 10 years.

The payment of many beneficiaries has been cancelled due to Aadhaar being inactive. Such beneficiaries are required to go to the Aadhaar center and update the card along with the identity and residence certificate, so that the payment of the next instalment can be transferred to their respective bank account.
