Chhattisgarh Herbal products put for sale in Amazon online platform had received rousing in the order books.
Soon after the launch, the demand outshined the supply; propelling the leading e-commerce company to inform its customers that the products were “unavailable” for sale.
However, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation swung into action and made arrangements to stock the products with Amazon, a state government spokesperson said. Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Federation has collaborated with Amazon for the sale of the products.
The herbal products of Chhattisgarh are now available at the online platform Amazon App under the brand name of ‘Chhattisgarh Herbals’. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel became the first customer to purchase a ‘Chhattisgarh Herbal’ product. He had placed an order online for ‘Forest Honey’ manufactured by women self-help groups.
The spokesperson said 23 products that include Honey, Organic Bastar Cashew, Chironji, Mahua Laddu are now available on Amazon.
The Federation took the initiative to encourage women entrepreneurs under Amazon’s Saheli program that provides specialized support and training to increase the sale of products. It is also working consistently for the upliftment of about 13 lakh 50 thousand forest dwellers.
The minor forest products collected by the forest dwelling tribes are procured at minimum support price and added value at Van Dhan Vikas Kendras run by women self-help groups. The products are now sold in the market under the brand of Chhattisgarh Herbals.
