The historic temple of Maa Kaushalya located near Chhattisgarh capital was illuminated with 31000 diyas (small oil lamps made of baked clay) on the eve of Diwali today.

The only temple of Lord Rama’s mother is situated in Chandkhuri at the outskirts of Raipur city. The Bhupesh Baghel government has recently renovated the entire premises to give it a magnificent look.

The centre has been included in the state government’s ambitious Ram Vanagaman Path tourism circuit plan. The premises was given a facelift at a cost of Rs 15 crore. The renovated premises were inaugurated on October 8 last year with a three-day grand festival.

The Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club had been celebrating the festival of lights with pomp and zeal at Chandkhuri. Its volunteers accompanied by the local residents lit up with 31,000 diyas in the picturesque premises resembling an island. The Hamar Ram committee has been donating lamps for the purpose.

Last year, the club had lit up the premises with 36,000 lamps during Diwali.
