Raipur, August 6
An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer currently posted as District Collector in Chhattisgarh has hogged the headlines for all wrong reasons.
The officials of the public relation department have leveled serious charges against the officer now posted in one of the districts in Sarguja division. The officers had written a letter to the Chhattisgarh Jansampark Adhikari Sangh narrating the incident.
They said the IAS officer lashed out at them in connection with the coverage of a meeting he chaired. The Collector summoned both the publicity officers and took them for task alleging that they released fake news, they added in the letter.
Urging the Association for a shield, the officers said the Collector abused them and said, “You don’t know the power of the District Collector. If I wish, you will vanish.” The two officers said the IAS officer would be responsible if anything happened to them as they were in a state of shock.
The bureaucrat under the lenses has been no new to the controversy. While posted in the same division early, he was charged with bashing up his cook.
The officer had to tender an apology and even offer a job to the cook’s son after the issue snowballed into a major controversy propelling people to launch a movement.
