Chhattisgarh IAS officer M Geetha passes away

The 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Chhattisgarh cadre, M Geetha passed away today evening in New Delhi.

The Mason Fellow, Harvard Kennedy School and Secretary with the Government of Chhattisgarh battled for life for over two and a half months before breathing her last at around 7.30 pm today. After empanelled as Joint Secretary in the Government of India, she was posted in the national capital where she suffered a brain stroke.

M Geetha was hospitalised and initially responded to the treatment. Later, her condition deteriorated. She was put on a life support system.

A Doctorate in Anthropology, cultural studies, critical theory and analysis, from University of Hyderabad, she did her MBA from Harvard University.

She served 16 years of Public Service in Madhya Pradesh and 5 years in Chhattisgarh. 14 years of Public Service in the field. District Collector for seven and a half years. Headed Public Health, Sanitation, Public Health Engineering, Land Registration and Women and Child Development at State levels.
