Indian Engineering Services (IES) officer Shanky Bagga quit the prestigious job to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh.
A resident of Rajnandgaon district, Bagga was selected in IES conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2013. Both IES officers and IAS officers are Class-1 Gazetted officers, however, the nature of their service reflects the difference in their repute and public recognition. They administer a large segment of the public sector economy, which consists of Indian Railways, Power, Telecommunications, Central Water engineering, Defence service of Engineers, Central Engineering Service, namely.
He did his M Tech from Mumbai and served with Indian Ordnance Factories Services (IOFS) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Bagga applied for Voluntary Retirement and formally joined the BJP on Sunday in presence of former Chief Minister Raman Singh and state party President Arun Saw.
Bagga said he was deeply inspired with the working of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that propelled him to join the BJP. He said the Prime Minister had taken positive initiatives to strengthen the country’s economy in the next 25 years when India would celebrate the centenary of its Independence.
