In what could be a milestone for the e-courts project in Chhattisgarh, the state government has initiated the process to launch the Virtual Court for online payment of traffic challan.
After the establishment of Virtual Court (V-Court), people will not have to visit the court for traffic challan payments. The person will be able to settle the invoices remotely and can also lodge an online complaint in case of any dispute relating to traffic challans.
Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the modalities to expedite the project in the state. He asked the top officials of the department concerned to take necessary action in this connection.
Jain said the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court had directed to launch the V-Court for the early disposal of challan cases. The Chief Secretary told the officials to study the model executed in the other states. He also asked to examine the draft of the agreement signed by the states with the banks for the payment.
In the V-Court introduced in other states, people will have to settle their challan dues within 90 days. If the challan dues are not settled within 90 days, legal proceedings will be initiated.
According to officials, the facility is available only to those who have registered their mobile numbers with the local RTO while registering their vehicle.
