Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar was seriously injured during a clash between two groups on Monday afternoon.

Sadanand Kumar has received serious head injuries and has got stitches to stop the profuse bleeding. The condition of the 2010-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer is reported to be stable.

According to a report, two groups clashed over the issue of religious conversion near Vishwa Dipti Christian School. The situation turned out of control as both the groups indulged in stone pelting and used “lathis”.

Receiving the information, a police party led by Sadanand Kumar rushed to the spot. However, the group attacked the Superintendent of Police, who received serious head injuries. He was rushed to the government hospital and given primary aid.

The Bastar Inspector General of Police, Sundarraj P had left for the spot. The situation is reported to be under control. Further details were awaited.
