Indian Police Service (IPS) official Trilok Bansal was seriously injured when a group of tuskers attacked him during a visit in Chhattisgarh’s Pendra-Marwahi district.
The 2016-batch IPS officer has been posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Pendra-Marwahi district. He, along with wife , was on a visit to Amaru forests on Wednesday where the movement of elephants had been spotted.
Reports reaching from the district headquarters said that about a dozen tuskers ran towards the crowd that had gathered to witness the scene. While one report said that a tusker hit the officer with his trunk, another said Bansal and his wife fell while fleeing the spot.
Before the tuskers could act, the officer was rescued. His wife also reportedly received injuries.
Sources said that Bansal sustained serious injuries on his back and head. After first aid, he along with wife was referred to Apollo Hospital in Bilaspur.
The doctors attending on him said that the IPS officer was out of danger though he had a close shave with death.
