Chhattisgarh government led by Bhupesh Baghel on Monday launched Gramin Aawas NYAY Yojana to provide roof to the homeless people in the state.
Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi launched the scheme at “Aawas NYAY Sammelan ” organised in village Parsada (Sakri) of Takhatpur development block of Bilaspur district. Under the Grameen Aawas NYAY Yojana, 47,090 houseless families of the state will be benefited in the first phase. Chhattisgarh Government has also decided to allot housing units to the remaining 6,99,439 eligible families in the permanent waiting list of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural).
In all, 10.76 lakh beneficiaries will be profited from Aawas Nyay Yojana in a phased manner in the coming years. The Chhattisgarh Government has also decided to provide financial aid for construction of houses. Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel distributed an amount of Rs 5 crore; Rs 1 lakh each to 500 beneficiaries of “Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Aawas Sahayata Yojana” for the construction.
They also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 414 development and construction works worth Rs 669 crore 69 lakh to be executed in the Bilaspur district. In the function, appointment letters to 2594 selected teachers and forest rights letters to 1117 beneficiaries in urban areas were also distributed.
Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Deo, former Union Minister Ms. Kumari Selja, MP Deepak Baij, Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant along with other dignitaries were present on the occasion. On the occasion, the Garment Factory Ganiyari-Nagoi run by a self-help group was also inaugurated.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi said at the click of the button, he could transfer crores of rupees within a second or two swiftly to the bank accounts of the underprivileged. The Chhattisgarh Government is currently allocating funds for the housing construction of the underprivileged. Today, Rs 1200 crores have been transferred to their accounts in just one click, and in the upcoming years, funds will continue to be deposited into their accounts in a similar manner, he said.
Rahul Gandhi said in the last election, they pledged to fortify the foundation of Chhattisgarh. “We honoured our commitments, including the waiver of farmers’ loans, a 50 per cent reduction in electricity bills, and paddy procurement at Rs 2500 per quintal,” he said, adding that they initiated providing annual financial assistance of Rs 7000 for landless labourers, extended healthcare coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh to 70 lakh families, and facilitated 42,000 recruitments. Additionally, they are offering a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 2500 to the youth.
Under the Kisan NYAY Yojana, the government disbursed input subsidies totalling Rs 21,000 crore to farmers. Landless farmers were not left behind, as they received Rs 7,000 each as annual financial assistance. In addition, tribal communities were provided fair prices for the collection of Minor Forest Produce, and forestland rights were granted to them. Healthcare also saw significant improvements, with extended coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh for 70 lakh families. The government has filled 42,000 vacant job positions and offered a monthly unemployment allowance to 1.30 lakh youth.
Recognizing the need for increased women’s participation in all sectors, he said, “Conducting a caste census is essential for the participation of all.”
