Jagdalpur, June 21

The Maoist rebels killed their colleague in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district for allegedly misbehaving with the women cadres in the organisation.

The victim has been identified as Manu Dugga, resident of Bharanda in Narayanpur district. He was the member of Platoon No 17 of People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) for the past many years and was currently a member of Kiskodo Area Committee.

The police discovered the body of Manu near Kesokodi village under Koylibeda police station of Kanker district on Wednesday morning. He was in Maoist uniform that initially gave the impression that he was killed in an encounter with the security personnel.

After verification, police could establish that the rebels killed their own colleague and threw the body near the village. A pamphlet was found near the body in which the Maoists claimed the responsibility of killing Manu.

The rebels, in the pamphlet, said Manu was behaving indecently with the women in the organization. As his attitude continued, they punished him by killing. The police are however investigating the matter to look into other causes, if any, in the incident, a senior police official in Kanker said.
