Chhattisgarh Minister for Education Gajendra Yadav visited the agitating farmers in the state capital and asserted that the government was committed to resolving their issues.

Under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, farmers resorted to dharna in the state capital on Monday. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Yadav met the delegation of the protesting farmers and discussed their problems. The discussion focussed on the nine-point demands with the representatives.

After the meeting, they arrived at the dharna venue where the farmers greeted the minister. Addressing the farmers, Yadav said farmers were like a family and their ideology was also the same. “Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is also related to the farmer family and hence he is sensitive to consider the demands raised by the farmers,” the Minister said.

Fifteen projects were approved by the Chief Minister in the cabinet meeting to increase the irrigation area, Yadav said, adding Rs 2800 crore had been released today to execute the projects. The Chief Minister has also instructed the officials to ensure proper and sufficient storage for paddy in the societies and also promised effective control over the black market of fertilizer.

Yadav said the cabinet had approved Rs 46 crore due to the sugarcane producers of Bhoramdeo Sugar Company as per the demand of the farmers. The financial formalities will be completed soon to enable farmers to get the benefits. The farmers expressed their happiness over the assurances given by the Minister.
