Chhattisgarh police jawans set an example of humanity and rescued a pregnant woman in labor pain from a pocket that was inaccessible for four wheelers.
The incident is reported from Paremer Ghutrupara village that is situated in the middle of the mountain forest under Thana Kapu area. The area is tucked away in an inaccessible terrain and it is difficult for four-wheelers to reach the village during the rainy season.
A pregnant woman in Ghutrupara developed labor pain and the family was in shock. They called Dial 112 for help to take the woman, Sushmita (28) to the hospital. The call of medical emergency was received at Kapu Rhino police station.
Constable Vipin Kishore Khalkho and ambulance driver Chhotu Das left immediately. Another Constable Prabal Kishore and driver Chhotu Das reached the woman’s house on foot as the pregnant woman’s house was located across the canal in a hill and there was no way for vehicle movement. Seeing the condition of the pregnant woman, constable Prabal Kishore without delay convinced the family members to carry the pregnant woman to the vehicle.
The police constable made a swing and attached it to a wooden pole. Sushmita sat on the swing while Prabal and Chottu put both ends of the pole on their shoulders. They walked three kilometers, crossing the canal and hilly terrains to reach the ambulance.
On the way, Sushmita developed extreme pain and the jawan showed his understanding and stopped the vehicle behind a tree, where the Mitanin and the woman’s family safely made the delivery. She was immediately admitted to the nearest government hospital Jamarga in the Dial 112 vehicle where both the mother and child are healthy.
Local people have praised the police for the quick response and help of Dial 112 in such a situation.
