Youth from Chhattisgarh have achieved notable success at the East Zone Regional round of the IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26, securing 12 medals and four Medals of Excellence.
The competition is organised by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to provide a national platform for technical talent and innovation.
IndiaSkills is being conducted in four stages: district, state, regional and national. Participants selected at the national level will go on to represent India at WorldSkills International.
Congratulating the winners, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the achievement shows that the youth of Chhattisgarh are capable of competing not only at the national level but also globally. He said the State government is giving priority to skill development by promoting modern training, innovation and industry-oriented courses. He described the success as an important step towards the goal of a skilled and prosperous Chhattisgarh.
The East Zone Regional competition concluded on March 2, 2026, in Bhubaneswar. More than 200 participants from Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands competed across 59 skill categories. Chhattisgarh secured one gold, two silver and five bronze medals, along with four Medals of Excellence.
Sunil Kumar Paital won gold in Digital Interactive Media. Khushank Nayak in 3D Digital Game Art, Pushkar Sonbar in CNC Milling and Atmaram in CNC Turning secured silver medals. Nikhil in CNC Milling, Abhishek Kumar in Electronics, Reshman in Plumbing and Heating, and Satendra Kumar in Web Technologies won bronze medals. Nohar Lal Patel in Renewable Energy, Om Banjare in Mechanical Engineering and Antara Mukherjee in Health and Social Care received Medals of Excellence.
Meanwhile, the competition in the state was organised by the Chhattisgarh State Skill Development Authority. At the district level, 3,327 participants competed across 19 skill trades, of whom 381 advanced to the state round. The state-level competition was held on February 3 and 4, 2026, in Raipur, Durg and Raigarh. Following practical assessments, 38 participants were selected for the regional stage. Those who have qualified at the regional level will now represent the state at the national competition.
For the first time, initiatives such as Kaushal Tihar 2025 and a mobile-based MCQ examination system were introduced to ensure wider participation and transparency in the conduct of the competition.
