Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh reported another COVID-19 death on late Sunday night, the second mortality in the district over a period of a fortnight.
The victim was identified as a 45-year-old person living in village Podi of Ratanpur. He was hospitalised following a complaint of pain in hands and legs for the last few days. He was also a patient of sickle cell.
The treatment was undergoing in a private hospital. The patient was tested COVID positive and the treatment started as per the guidelines. He died late on Sunday night.
This was the second COVID death reported in Bilaspur in the last 15 days. Earlier, a woman died due to the novel virus.
According to health department officials, over a dozen active cases had come to the fore in the district in the last 15 days. The cases were reported from the rural areas where testing was intensified after the death of the woman. Over 15 patients were identified, out of which 12 were active cases. The officials said that all the infected were being treated in home isolation.
The officials are also tracking the travel history of the infected patients. During investigation, it has been found that a large number of people are returning from Thailand, Mumbai, Delhi and other states. The infection is once again spreading from the people coming from abroad, the officials added.
