Chhattisgarh returns Rs 38 crore to duped chit fund investors

The Chhattisgarh government on Wednesday gave another instalment of money to the investors who were duped by the fraud chit fund companies in the state.

At a function organised under the banner of Nyay Karyakarm (justice programme) on Wednesday, Baghel disbursed Rs 4,13,88,996 to 35,378 the investors. With this, the Bhupesh Baghel government as of now has refunded Rs 37,92,99,656 to 81,204 victim investors.

Soon after taking over as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel gave top priority to return the money duped by the fraud investment companies. He had directed the officials to take stringent action against the companies and forfeit their properties. The Chief Minister personally monitored the action taken by the authorities.

The action against the fraud companies was taken under Chhattisgarh’s Protection of Interests of Depositors Act 2005. In all, 462 cases were registered against 208 chit fund companies across the state and over 700 directors and officers of the fraud firms were apprehended.
