Chhattisgarh government has planned to build an Aerocity near Swami Vivekanand Airport in the upcoming new state capital Nava Raipur.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who announced the project in his Republic Day speech this year, laid the foundation stone today for creating Aerocity in 216.63 acres of land. The land has been identified in villages Baroda and Ramchandi of Nava Raipur for Aerocity.
Due to the inclusion of privately owned land in the identified land, it has been decided to develop the Aerocity project on the lines of the city development plan, a state government statement said. Provision of commercial establishments, shopping complexes, hotels will come up in Layer-3 of Naya Raipur Atal Nagar to promote passenger facilities, commercial development of the airport area and employment generation.
Keeping in view the market assessment and financial interest of the authority, it was decided to develop the land of area of about 24.85 acres in the first phase to house around 1000 shops. In the layout prepared on 15.45 acres of government-owned land, 04 commercial plots ranging from 0.62 acres to 3.01 acres, 01 shopping complex of 0.82 acres and 1.44 acres of land are proposed for 01 hotel. A provision of Rs 2 crore has been made by the state government in the financial year 2023-24 for the development of Aerocity.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for ‘Commercial Hub’, to be developed on 1083 acres in Sector-23, 24, 34, 35 and 40 of Nava Raipur with the aim of promoting investment, settlement and commercial activities in Nava Raipur.
A provision of Rs 5 crore has been made by the state government in the financial year 2023-24 for the development of the commercial hub. City level infrastructure of ‘Commercial Hub’ and infrastructure development in 125 acres of the first phase will be done with an investment of Rs 195.51 crore. The land identified for this project is on National Highway No. 30 and is situated near the allotment of Bharat Mala Project and the said land also has railway connectivity. The marked land plot is about 12 km from Swami Vivekananda Airport.
The identified land is located in villages Nimora, Upwara, Parasathi, Bendri, Kendri, Jhanki and Mudpar. The land use of the said land has been mixed from public and semi-public. It is worth noting that after consultation and survey with about 7743 different wholesale business associations, the market demand has been assessed, on the basis of which the demand assessment and product mix has been determined based on the availability of land in the identified land and the priority of business activity.
Baghel also laid the foundation stone for ‘Shaheed Memorial’ to be established on 13 acres in the VIP battalion in village Parsada (Sector-3) of Nava Raipur. The state government spokesperson said 42.931 acres of land has been identified for raising the VIP battalion in the same premises. In this proposed project, Martyr Memorial will be constructed on approximately 07 acres of land with walls to engrave the names of 2700 martyrs, Chhattisgarh Amar Jawan Jyoti Memorial will be constructed on approximately 6 acres of land, Memorial Museum on 1500 square meter area, Parade Ground for 21 Platoon, Bugler platform, gallery for about 400 spectators, special guest gallery in 40 square meters, barrack for 60 soldiers in 1400 square meters and arrangements for parking, fountain, irrigation etc. will be made.
The state government has issued administrative approval of Rs 47.75 crore for the project.
