Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy for the Maoists in Chhattisgarh would get a new look.
Addressing media persons after a marathon meeting convened to review the progress of anti-Maoist operations here on Saturday, Shah said the new policy would be in place within two months. The policy will have a new look with attractive incentives for those giving up the arms, Shah said, adding that the government would welcome those who avail the benefits of the policy and surrender. The government is committed to their rehabilitation and well-being.
“The Maoists who will continue to fight will get a befitting reply,” Shah said. The priority of the government is to avoid conflict and appeal to the rebels to surrender. “Even if they fail to drop the arms, the security forces will chase them even in hell and neutralize,” the Union Home Minister said.
The government is committed to end the Left-Wing Extremism from the country by March 2026 and a well-planned strategy has been activated, he added. For better coordination, the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the adjoining Maoist affected states have been taken on board. Shah said the ongoing fight against the Maoists was in the decisive phase.
Responding to a question, Shah said he did not want to indulge in politics when it came to the operations against the rebels. “You can compare the data with the previous Congress government and will get to understand the outcome,” he added.
The Union Home Minister said the local youths would be given preference and a special recruitment drive would be held to accommodate them in the para-military forces combating the left extremists.
