Chhattisgarh to set up help desk at airports to combat Omicron

The Chhattisgarh government has swung into action to combat the new COVID variant Omicron and has decided to set up a help-desk at the airports for effectively monitoring the passengers flying-in from abroad.

The Health department of Chhattisgarh government today issued a notification to all District Collectors directing them to strictly follow the fresh guidelines for international arrival issued for handling the new COVID variant. The fresh direction stressed for effective surveillance and screening of international travelers landing in Chhattisgarh.

The state government has directed the collectors concerned to set up a help desk at the three airports namely Raipur, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur for screening the passengers coming from abroad. Besides checking the test report, the desk would examine the vaccination status, quarantine on arrival and symptoms of COVID.

The districts have been asked to coordinate with the state surveillance centre and track the international traveler. Those who have failed to complete seven days quarantine in India would be asked to do so and the authorities would conduct the RT-PCR test on the 8th day to verify whether he or she had been infected.
