Chhattisgarh to start paddy procurement at MSP from November 1 in the KMS 2023-24

Chhattisgarh will procure paddy from the farmers at minimum support price (MSP) during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2023-24 from November 1, 2023.

The paddy procurement will continue till January 2024, a government spokesperson said after the meeting of the state cabinet that finalised the policy for procurement and custom milling of paddy and maize at support price for KMS 2023-24. Under this policy, paddy and maize will be procured at the support price declared by the Government of India.

The spokesperson said kharif paddy would be purchased from farmers in cash and linking at support price from November 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. Similarly, Kharif maize will be procured from November 1, 2023 to February 28, 2024. As per the announcement of the Chief Minister, a maximum of 20 quintals of paddy per acre and 10 quintals of maize per acre will be procured from farmers.

The cabinet has decided to extend the validity of government guarantee of Rs 14,700 crore to Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Marketing Federation Limited for paddy procurement by one year till 31 October 2024 for the KMS 2023-24. The spokesperson said consent has been given to supply Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) through (NAFED) Indian National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation for the fortification of the rice obtained from custom milling of paddy procured in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24.

The state cabinet also approved a proposal to allot plots to the people dodged by builders in the New Swagat Vihar located in village Dunda, Sejbahar and Boriyakala.

Regarding determination of the allocation rate and the process of land allotment of the proposed wholesale commercial market or commercial hub project in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, Cabinet has decided that in compliance with the announcement of Chief Minister, businessmen will be provided land plots at the rate of Rs 540 per square foot instead of Rs 945. The total amount of loss so caused to Nava Raipur Authority i.e. Rs 117.86 crore will be reimbursed by the state government.

The Cabinet has decided to create 03 posts of Additional Director in Pay Matrix Level-15 (Pay Scale 118500-214100) in the Public Relations Department.
