Raipur, September 1
Chhattisgarh has been ranked first among states in the country with the lowest unemployment rate.
According to the latest data released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), Chhattisgarh has registered an unemployment rate of mere 0.4 per cent this August, which is the lowest so far. In March-April, the figure stood at 0.7 per cent that was also lowest among all the states in the country.
During the period of August, country’s unemployment rate stood at 8.3 per cent, the statement said citing CMIE data. Haryana records the highest rate of unemployment at 37.3 per cent.
The Congress government-led by Bhupesh Baghel has attributed the feat to the favourable schemes it has launched to boost the rural economy. The state government had launched its ambitious Godhan Nyay Yojana in 2020 in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of ‘Gram Swaraj’ to strengthen the cottage industries in the villages to provide income-generating opportunities.
Under the scheme, Gauthans (cattle sheds) have been set up in the rural areas that is now emerging as rural industrial park. Some of the livelihood-related activities in the park are producing vermi-compost, goat rearing, manufacturing incense sticks, dona-pattal (leaf plate) manufacturing, fish farming, egg production, mushroom output, etc.
The state government is also procuring cow-dung and cow urine; paying Rs 2 and 4 respectively to the beneficiaries. It will be used in the park for preparing vermi compost and fertilizers that will generation another source of income for the people.
