Chhattisgarh transfers Rs 2028 crore to beneficiaries’ bag

The Chhattisgarh government on Sunday transferred an amount of Rs 2029 crore to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of flagship schemes of the Bhupesh Baghel government.

At the “Bharose ka Sammelan (convention of faith)” organised in Sakra village of Durg district on Sunday to mark the martyrdom day of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel virtually transferred Rs 2028.92 crore amount to the beneficiaries’ accounts. The state government spokesperson said under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana, the first installment of Rs 1894.93 crore has been transferred to 24 lakh 52 thousand farmers.

An amount of Rs 112.71 crore has been transferred to the account of 5 lakh 63 thousand beneficiaries under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Landless Agricultural Labor Justice Scheme. Similarly, under Godhan Nyaya Yojana, Rs 13.57 crore have been paid to pastoralists, cowherd societies and self-help groups. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Mitan Club, 3085 clubs in 13 districts have been distributed Rs 7.71 crore.

Addressing the convention while paying tribute to late Rajiv Gandhi, Baghel said the important contribution of Rajiv ji was to strengthen Panchayati Raj and computer revolution. “Today, we are working towards strengthening the farmers of Chhattisgarh by transferring the amount directly to their account to enable them to get direct benefits,” Baghel said.

“The former Prime Minister late Shri Rajiv Gandhi had said that unless the farmer is strong, the country’s economy will not be strong, we have worked to realize this idea,” the he said, adding that even in the difficult times of Corona, they had transferred the amount of the schemes to the account of the farmers.  The Chief Minister announced that the state government had decided to buy 20 quintals of paddy per acre.

“We have made 72 lakh ration cards and have given relief to people under the electricity bill half scheme. Forest produce collectors are getting a fair price for their produce. We serve mother cows and serve mother earth by adding organic manure,” Baghel added.

Former Union Minister Kumari Selja said she could see smiles on the faces of the people staying in Chhattisgarh that endorse dreams of Rajiv Gandhi had been realized. The happiness and confidence built were long drawn efforts of farmers of Chhattisgarh, she added.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the University of Horticulture and Forestry, to be named after Mahatma Gandhi. The project, which will come up in Sakra village of Patan block, will entail an investment of Rs 120 crore.
