The violence-hit village of Biranpur in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district slipped into sensation and panic when police reportedly discovered two bodies from a field on Tuesday morning.
Despite heavy police deployment, clashes between the two communities that erupted following the brutal murder of Bhuneswar Sahu on Saturday, continued. On Monday evening, a house of a minority community member was set on fire.
The Chhattisgarh bandh called by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in protest against the killing of Bhuneswar Sahu evoked massive response on Monday.
A realm of terror was unleashed in the village on Tuesday when police discovered two bodies in the field. Though police officials could not be contacted for an official version, sources said the two belonged to the minority community and were related to each other.
The police have taken the bodies in its custody and sent them to the government hospital in Saja for autopsy. The senior police officials said only after getting the report, they would be in a position to give the official statement.
With the fresh spate of violence in Bemetara village, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday afternoon convened a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation. Besides the senior cabinet members, state’s Chief Secretary and Director General of Police along with top officials attended the meeting.
Baghel had appealed to the people to maintain peace.
